"Captain of the Enterprise" (justanotherdayinparadise)

This morning on my commute I saw and more importantly heard a 2015 GT350.
(not my picture but it looked almost exactly like this.)
I saw a black Mustang in semi camouflage, not an uncommon sight when you're just down the street from the glass house and assumed it was a normal GT doing durability testing and then I heard it and knew. The noise alone makes the car worth the purchase price. even at lower RPM's it just screams power. It is unmistakable and somewhat foreign to my conception of what an engine sounds like. I daily drive a v8 and have never heard anything out of it that reaches that exotic and spine-tingling noise that that flat plane crank 8 produces. This is going to be a very special car unlike any Mustang before it.

That's flat plane crank V8, not flat 8 like an H8 or something.

Wait. If you have a V8 how are you a captain of the beige wonder?? Wonder's (camry's) only had 6's right?

I have a feeling a Flat 8 would be pretty fucking sweet though.
Subaru. Porsche. Get on it!

That was one of the coolest things about living in the Detroit metro. I saw so many cars and trucks being tested. For some reason they also love taking mound rd from around 18 mile to the city.

Porsche developed a Flat-8 for racing. 1.5 liters.

I sort of assumed that someone, somewhere along the line had developed a Flat-8, even if I didn't know specifically who or when.
But I was talking about in a production vehicle.

Production vehicle, you're covered there too, if you count airplane engines.

Of course Ferrari made flat-12's. So did Porsche.
But flat-12's aren't the subject here, are they?

The 908 was a 3.0L flat 8, and was incredibly successful. There was a 2.0L put in a few 904s as well, IIRC.

I thought it was pretty obvious we were talking about Mobilomobiles, you know, with their deceleratirxes and their velocitators

The 908's engine was a punched out variety of the 1.5L they developed for Formula One.

I'm not really sure what the topic is. The Mustang does not have a flat 8.

We are not saying the Mustang has a flat-8. we just got off on a tangent.

Guess you don't have to worry too much with a fleet car.
Too bad you didn't get the photo. That would have made for a nice 'like a boss' meme.

Yeah I have got to get a dashcam, I would like to take pictures but I was driving in a swarm of idiots in a busy stretch of roads. The photo I found is almost identical but this one had a yellow stripe instead of green on the deck lid and uncovered side scoops by the front tires. With a test car like that they will crush it in the end anyway.
